Hey folks,
I have the following setup:
Two Linksys BEFW11S4 wireless routers.
One Router (#1) is on the third floor.
Another Router (#2) is on the first floor.
Routers are linked via ethernet cable.
#2 is not set up to route. It is not giving IP Addresses.
#1 is set up to be a router. It gives IP Addresses.
Both routers share an SSID: Nikidog
#1 is set for Ch. 6
#2 is set for Ch. 11
Roaming laptop has a wireless card using Wireless Zero.
64-bit WEP is in play.
Here's the problem:
I can use the Internet on any floor without problem. I seem to roam
fine. But at some point, Wireless Zero will get confused somehow. I'll
get a balloon that says One or More Wireless networks has been
detected and to click the balloon in order to choose which network to
connect to. (I've tried the same channel as well, but this didn't make
things any better.)
When I click the balloon, I am presented with a connect dialogue for
the nikidog SSID with the WEP key present. If I click connect, I am
"reconnected" to nikidog.
But, if I just leave the balloon alone, I am still connected and can
get to the Internet fine. It's just that the wireless signal meter is
never accurate.
I don't really understand the confusion for Wireless Zero. They're
both the same SSID, just different channels. Why is Wireless Zero
detecting multiple networks? (For what it's worth, there are NO other
networks anywhere near by.)
Any thoughts? I cringe to ask, cause this is a weird one to me.
