I am not the best person to answer your question, but I
will do so if I can.
You would have to buy the access point AND the wireless
router, then sell or store ur old ethernet router.
Just buying a wireless router wont help, because you
still have to run a line back to the main router to get a
connection.
I suggest the following items for your network. I prefer
linksys because they are repeatedly more dependable than
D-Link or NetGear by far, and are only about $5-$10
cheaper.
WRT54G Wireless G broadband router
WMP54G Wireless G PCI Adapter (FOR A PC)
OR
WPC54G Wireless G PCMCIA Adapter (FOR A LEPTOP)
After installing these two devices, you will have a fully
functioning network ready for high-speed transfer rates.
