Hi there.

I've just installed Fedora Core 4 on a partition on my PC which runs windows
XP as well. I have cable modem broadband and it works fine in windows. How
do I set up Internet access from Linux?

Thanks in anticipation

If you connect to the cable modem through ethernet, you should be there
already.

If you connect through USB then, if you are not there already, tell us
what USB device you use (see what driver is used under Windows XP).

Its a wireless network card in my pc, the cable modem uses Ethernet.

When you say I should be there already, when I launch firefox in Linux it
wont connect to the web(?)

By ethernet, I meant the wired connection. What sort of wireless network
card do you have, or more specifically, what is the wireless chip on
your card and how is it attached to your computer? Some wireless chips
are not supported by Linux.

What is your wireless card? Linux does not support all wireless cards,
though a great many can work with ndiswrapper.

The wireless card is a Belkin 802.11g

Well, if it uses the Ralink ra2500 chip (as it may well do - check by
looking at the actual network card), go to:

<http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page>

and do what it says (i.e. download, compile and link the driver and set
up the configuration file). It does work - I've used one myself!
