I am trying to connect to a share on Server 2003 with MS
Lan Manager 2.1 dos disks to image my syspreped units. I
logon with a user account that has admin rights to the
domain but after sucessful logon I "net use g:
\\server\share" and I get the response "The password is
invalid for \\server\share. Type the password for
\\server\share." I have tried KBA-277644 but that did
not work. The Lan Manager authentication level on the
server is set at "Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session
security if negotiated." I do not see anywhere to set
share level passwords. What have I missed?

2003 uses heavier security based on Kerbios (2000 did not). Win95 and
older equipment cannot connect to it. Even NT4.0 had to be above SP3
to work with it.

So, if I disable Kerbios, would it allow the older clients to connect? I was able to connect my DOS machine with the W2K3 .NET beta. I just installed NetBEUI protocol and I was able to continue as normal, but since the beta expired and I had to install the full release of W2K3, I haven't been able to connect. My server can see the DOS PC connecting, it shows up in the sessions listing, but I get an access denied message on the shares and the print spooler asks for a password?
