Access code for BT

Hi!

Interesting question here.

I've moved to Vodafone at home, as some of you may be aware
if you've seen any of my previous threads.

If I dial 150 from my line, I get a message saying that my
customer service department cannot be contacted and I need
to dial the number on my bill.

HOWEVER! If I dial 1280 and then 150, it puts me through to
BT customer services, interesting.

If I dial 1280 and then I dial my mobile number...it rings!
It's letting me dial any number, but now my line rental and
everything is dealt with by Vodafone and BT have sent me my
final bill, so what would happen with the calls if I were
to keep dialling the access code and making the calls over
BT? Would I receive a seperate bill from them for calls?

Just wondered if anyone out there had the answer! I'm in
no way bothered about making dodgy phone calls for free, I
hardly ever use the phone anyway, and I have inclusive minutes
on a mobile phone contract, plus, with the Vodafone landline
I get free inclusive calls to 01/02 numbers 24/7, I'm just
interested to know what will happen!

TIA Charlie.

Nothing dodgy, if you dial 1280 and then dial a number BT bill you for
the call. It's what's supposed to happen. 1280 just routes your call
over the BT network.

Vodafone have CPSd your line.

They have an arrangement with Gamma Telecom to route your calls at a
given rate.

If you dial 1280, it will drop back to Voda's (or Gamma's) default BT
Wholesale account, which is associated with their line rental account.
Consequently, they will be charged much more by BT Wholesale than Gamma
are charging them for a CPSd call.

Therefore, if you continue, one of two things are likely to happen.

1. Vodafone will charge you more for the call.
2. Vodafone will not notice & absorb the additional cost.

The actual call costs they are likely to be charged can be found in
this document
<http://www.btwholesale.com/content/binaries/pricing/sppl/section_36/part2_wholesale_service_provider_calls_text/Section%2036%20Part%202.2.xls>

which is linked to from

<http://www.btwholesale.com/application?origin=resolve.jsp&event=bea.portal.fr amework.internal.refresh&pageid=editorial_two_colu mn&nodeId=navigation/node/data/SPPL_Page/PART_2_WHOLESALE_SERVICE_PROVIDER_CALLS_AND_TEXT/navNode_PART_2_WHOLESALE_SERVICE_PROVIDER_CALLS_AN D_TEXT>

It is unlikely that Vodafone have any Call Commitment package with
BTWS, as they route their calls through Gamma.
