According to the document, when there is no WINS server present, a client
will assume B-Node otherwise would assume H-Node.

However, how can I find out what type of node my client is actually
configured for? And How can I specify a particular node type that a client
would assume?

Many thanks,

Hi!

"ipconfig /all" reveals cient's node type:

Windows IP Configuration

Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : XP
Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . :
Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid
IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No

Node type is usually set with DHCP option 046.
