I have a laptop that I use at two different locations. When I move between
the different locations I currently have to change the work group name each
time and then reset the computer in order to access the network files of
that network.

Is there a way I can configure laptop so that I dont have to change the
workgroup name when I move to the other location? I would never be accessing
both locations at the same time.

My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite with built-in wireless adaptor

I am running XP Pro and a wireless connection (Both locations are using
linksys if that makes any difference).

thanks for your replies in advance!

Brad

You can use the Alternate Configuration or, if you find it too
cumbersome, there are third-party solutions. For instance, my son's
laptop has a static IP and subnet that is different from my home
network. At home, he gets his IP dynamically via DCHP. The only
disadvantage is waiting around 30 seconds for the first setting to time
out before Windows switches to the second setting. Here are links to
help you:

you should never have to change the workgroup name. domains are a different
story, but all workgroups are is a way to group computers under a common
name in windows explorer... they have no security effect at all.

You should never change workgroup membership, just go My Network
Places ->Microsoft Windows Network and choose workgroup, only settings you
need to change are IP settings, if both networks use DHCP siply type
ipconfig /renew in command promt.
