98se and wireless g adapters

Is anybody aware of the incompatability of 802.11g
adapters and 98se machines. If you have heard this or
have any solutions please let me know thanks.

This posted with an app running under Win98SE.

The messaged transfered over WLAN running 802.11g encrypted.
Current Transfer rate/Mbps: 54 .. fell down to 48 .. oops, down
to 36 .. up to 48 again .. and so on ..

Looks compatible to me. What incompatibility-info should i have
been aware of?
