98 won't allow adding network components?

I am using Win98SE and trying to add TCP/IP protocol.
When I select "Add..." from the Network menu then choose
the component type and select the "Add.." button in that
menu, I should see a list of protocols, but it never
appears. In fact, the only network component that produces
a list of items is "Adapters".

I just installed the drivers for a D-Link wireless cardbus
product onto my laptop. After I did this I noticed that I
was connecting to the wireless router, but couldn't browse
the internet. That is when I went to networking and
noticed that TCP/IP wasn't installed for the card, and I
couldn't install it. The strange thing is that I was just
using TCP/IP with the built-in ethernet connector before I
attemted to install the new product, and TCP/IP currently
appears in the list for the dial-up adapter.

Any suggestions?

I hope there is an easier way, but I had to reinstall
win98 over it's self because something in the DUN got
majorly screwed up.
