Win2000pro can easily access the files on 98. but when
98se tries to access the shared file on win2000pro it asks
for a password to the IPC$ resource. i looked into this
and i tried logging into 98 using a username and password
from win2000pro and this didn't work. 1/2 the time it
says no permission, the other 1/2 the time it still asks
for a password. what am i doing wrong?

There's no correct reply to the IPC$ prompt. The solution is to
create a user account on the Windows 2000 machine with the same user
name and password that you use to log onto Windows 98.
