What exactly happens when you try to release/renew the IP address? If
there's an error message, what does it say?
What's the IP address? If it's 169.254.x.x, it wasn't assigned by
DHCP, so it can't be released. That address indicates that the PC
can't communicate with the DHCP server to get an IP address.
