98 Networking Question

Hello,

Will this cause problems:

34 Subnets
800 machines dispersed through the subnets using TCPIP
All machines are non-domain members and all belong to the default workgroup
'WORKGROUP'

What kind of traffic will this generate across the WAN?
What about duplicate names on different WAN links? Sometimes they have
problems, sometimes they dont..why is this?
