Just did a speed test at random today,
see here
http://www.adslguide.org.uk/tools/sp...998c8acb9301f3

Shocked to get a 72KB upload, so I checked the router stats and that reports
a 8000kbps down
and a 832kbps up sync speed.

I wonder if BT are running some trial at the exchange, I cant reset the
router incase I lose my
nice new upload speed

Anybody ever seen this before?

On my 2M/288K line, this speed test reports 577Kbps upload (rather than a
maximum of 288 Kbps). The download speed is 1590 Kbps which is average for a
contended 2Mbps line. Both figures are "actual" rather than "true". My
router is reporting that it's connected at 2272 Kbps/288 Kbps, as I'd
expect.

For mine, just now (17:15ish) 1606 down and 243 up (actual) again on 2272/288
(though I think another PC is active) on a cheapo BB Plus account :-) Peter.

Yes, the "Max DSL" trials are due to end in just a few days, but clearly the
two other posters are affected, perhaps by accident, but without knowing the
areas of London and Scotland, it's awkward to know just why they've seen any
difference recently. For anyone wanting to read up on the trials, search on
www.ADSLguide.org news archive for "Max DSL" (both words, but no quotes.)

only in error, sometimes Macs or Linux implementations of Java seem to
struggle with the speed testers.

If the UKOnline in your email address above is for real then you have
perhaps been changed over to LLU now that UKOnline are in your
exchange, but they still have you profiles at 2M. A reboot should not
change it.

one is on UKOnline - an LLU operator - at least according to his email
address. T'other is effectively reporting a wrong speed tester result
as it exceeds his modem sync speed.

Are you running On-speed or similar acceleration [compression] software?

Hmmmm. Maybe youve got my new 8MB connection!

I connect at 8MB, but ADSLguide shows me as having under 4MB. Yes I
know its only "upto" - but my old 2MB line maxed out - and Im right
next door to my exchange!
