802.1Q (VLAN Tagging)

I have a customer that has a Cisco wireless infrastructure that sets up
multiple VLANS. The problem I have is that their wireless VLAN requires
VLAN Tagging at the device level. I have a small wireless-to-serial
device that does not support this. Is this a normal way to implement
this, or should the Cisco access points actually be doing the VLAN Tag
adding/stripping, so that my device does not have to do this?
