hi
what transfer will be in BSS with b/g access point and b and g mobile
stations associated with it. i mean will it be 802.11g speed between g
stations and 802.11b speed beetween b and g stations? or all the stations
will work with 802.11b speed.but in this case what is the purpose of cts to
self and rts/cts protection?

Everything will slow down. g<->g will operate at less than 54 Mbps (but
more than b speeds) and b<->b will operate at less than 11 Mbps.

As soon as even *one* b station associates with an AP serving g, all
those g<->g connections will slow down, even if the b station isn't
sending or receiving data.
