Are there any venders that support the 802.11a protocols
in terms of of servers and wireless adapters for Desk Tops?

There are a number, but 802.11a hardware may be hard to locate. If you're in the US, go to www.compusa.com, Networking, Wireless and you can select 802.11a on their index page. Note: You won't find much stand alone "a" hardware. Some vendors are bundling it all in one a/b/g package.

Use similar criteria on other web sites. For example, go to www.pricewatch.com and click on Network Devices. On the next page, enter 802.11a in the Search Category field.
