802.11a accesspoints with antenna and bridging?

Looking at 802.11a based APs, they all seem to lack the 2 usefull features of an
accesspoint over a router, namely point to point and point to multipoint
bridging. I cant even find one that supports AP client mode.

Is this dumbing down of them a result ofprice pressure or what?

Also, there seems to be a trend of non-removable antennas as well. Same reason?
