I want to use a 700 router with a cable modem so I can
use the wireless feature of my notebook. Do I have to run
a desktop computer also to make the basestation & modem
transmit? Or can I somehow just have the cable modem and
basestation sitting somewhere together running without a
direct computer connection? Thanks

Hi,

You don't need a desktop computer to be connected to the MN-700 for it to
work.
All you need to do is use a wired connection the first time to configure the
Base Station's wireless settings and then you can use it wirelessly with no
desktop computers connecting to it.
