Hi Andrew,

Personally I don't advice anything less then 10-15 GB for %systemdrive%.
Basic installation is not that demanding, but with time you add service
packs and patches that take additional storage space, not to mention
additional software and services.

Pagefile (pagefile.sys it is a hidden file on %systemdrive%) can also occupy
quite some storage space (by default it will take 1,5 times about of RAM).

Hi, Just wanted to check with you if 4GB is enough of disk space for
Windows2k server.
I left this much for system partition, and now Windows is showing only 800MB
free after installation, allthough system files takes much less. I wander if
I have any problem with that.
thanks

Eeeek - no. An 8-10GB system partition is my minimum for Win2k - 4GB is from
the old NT4 days, and frequently wasn't enough even then depending on what
other server apps were installed.
Get more disks!

thanks for advice,
is there easy way to change system partition without reinstalling the
server?
The whole disk is 80GB, that 4GB was default so theat why I choose.

Hi,

there are some 3rd party tools that can help you increase the size of
partition. One of them would be
Partition Manager 6.0 http://www.partition-manager.com/

I never used it so I don't know how it works. I used Partition Magic before
and it worked for me, but it doesn't work in servers...
