The "Combined ADSL Modem/Router/Wireless Access Point" sections sounds
promising :-)

I have just installed a netgear DG824M that has given no hassle so far and
was easy to set up.

A lot of people seem to be hanging on for the higher speed wireless access
points - not much point unless you have high bandwidth needs across your
network. The standard 802.11b speed more than surpasses the current maximum
ADSL transfer rate.

That's me out then, as I use my local network for backup purposes, and I take
a lot of photographs. Even fast wireless would be too slow for this. Most of
the time that my laptop is at home, it's plugged into a cable anyway to charge
its batteries, so an extra cable for an ethernet connection doesn't make much
difference. However you are quite correct to say that slow wireless beats
ADSL. If all you want is to be able to use a laptop in the garden, then
802.11b would be fast enough for this purpose.

Rod.
