3G on my laptop

Hi,

I was wondering if it is possible to access the internet using the
'inclusive' (since I am adverse to saying free) internet that one gets
with a 3G tariff such as this ( http://threestore.three.co.uk/handse...76&mixnmatch=0
) from ones laptop. I am aware that it is possible to use bluetooth to
connect to a phone and therefore dial an ISP in order to connect to
the internet, but this of course would use the 'inclusive' minutes. On
an offer such as this, is it possible to take advantage of the 3G
internet in the same way it is possible when using a 3G dongle.

Thank you

Martin

No direct experience but from the plan small print:

'phone browsing only, your data usage does not include using your phone
as a modem'

I've done this both with 3 and with the T-Mobile £1/day 3G service.
T-Mobile has worked fine for everything I wanted to work, though
with 3 I had trouble with an application I sometimes use (I can't
remember what it was now though; maybe ssh). I still use T-Mobile
occasionally.

You aren't supposed to use either of these services with a laptop,
by the way, so even if it works now I guess there is no guarantee
that they won't break something you want to work in future.

I regularly use SSH over 3 - midpssh can be extremely handy at times.
(For the uninitiated: that's an SSH client that runs on a Java-enabled
phone. No computer required.)
