3com query connecting to the Net from a novice

Hi have just got a 3COM 3CRWE754G72 ADSL wireless router
could someone help me on this to get onto the Internet I have to go
into the setup screen each time & press connect then I am online as long
as my computer is turned on.

Can someone tell me how to make a connection on my desktop to enable me
to go online each time it says PPPoE connection.
This does not work as I have to have a PPPoA connection in the router
to log on etc. this works OK if I press connect.
But I cannot connect any other way any ideas please.

After I turn computer off the router drops the line & does not
reconnect until I do the above.
I do not have any time-outs enabled etc.

Sorry forgot to mention Desktop computer is wired to this then wireless
to laptop

You may need to allow pings from your ISP so they can detect that the
modem is switched on when there's no other traffic.
