Hello. I"m trying to get 10 of the about listed cards to work in a
network. The Motherboard are Q-lity P3BX's. My prolbem arises when
the WOL cable is connected from the motherboard to the NIC. When Win98
goes to shutdown, it mearly restarts. Disconnecting the cable fixes the
prolbem. As you can guess, I'm trying to get them to wake remotly. I've
tried 3c90xcfg, and yes, the card(s) check out perfectly. Under NIC
information, it mentions the Wake on lan option is set to 'Level',
though there is no way that i can see to change it. I've searched throu
goggle a number of times to no avail. I also have tried the GUI
diagnostics, and under the WOL setting there is also no option to change
the method. The only thing that has worked is a Dlink DFE-530TX+. In the
beginning, it had the same result as the 3com, but using the DOS diags, I
set 'Lan Wake signal' from 'Active High' to 'Active Low'. Following that,
WOL worked perfectly. There are no options for adjusting this in the BIOS.
Unfortuntly, Q-lity seems to be out of business. Neightor Bios's
(Original or Current) have the option to modify the type. Is there
a way to change the 905b so that i can use them? Perferrably I'd like to
use them because Etherboot nicely supports them, in addition to the
fact that i can use the card to program an image in the boot-prom without
needing to buy a seperate programmer.

Sorry for the extended post. Any help would be much appreciated.

Well it's been ages since we had a w98 machine around here, but you might take
a look at the nic driver configuration applet to see if there is a filter that
when enabled allows ONLY "management console commands" to wake the system - as
opposed to *any* packet coming to that nic's address...

Unfortunately, The problem still occurs when the cable is unplugged. I've
checked in the tab under device manager <with the latest drivers> and no
option presents itself. Thanks for the idea, anyway.
