3COM 3CRDW696 external antenna

I am getting marginal reception on my 3COM 3CRDW696 PCI WIFI card
connecting to a Linksys WRT54G wireless router.

As the PC with the card in is under a desk, I guess reception would
improve if I could extend the external antenna. Does anyone know if
this is feasible?

If so, is there an off the shelf cable available or what type of
connector does the existing antenna use?
