3com 11g card and a 11g gateway, HP omnibook

Hi,

i bought a 3com 11g card and a 11g gateway. The problem is that the card
will not accosiate with the gateway. The gateway is on its default, i.e. no
wep, and any client can associate. Also, when i have the pc card in my HP
omnibook 6000 laptop, the laptop wil not BOOT. Only after the boot,
the card may be inserted (and is recognized).Are these 2 problems
correlated?
