We have:
A desktop running XP Pro, which has access to the internet via adsl.
A desktop running W2K
these two computers are networked together with an Edimax 5-port switch. The
switch also serves as a wireless access point (802.11g).
We also have a laptop running XP Home with built-in wireless adapter
(802.11b).
All three computers can access each other on the network. Only the XP Pro
can access the internet.
We've checked all settings we can think of.... what haven't we thought of?
Josie

ICS on the XP Pro machine - it has to share its intenet connection (enable
this on the NIC properties in Network Connections).

Check the network settings on the laptop to see if it's properly picking up
the XP Pro machine as the gateway to the Internet.

many thanks for all your suggestions - although I don't entirely understand
yours, John and would appreciate further elucidation.
However, we have found a solution which might be of interest.
We ran the setup disk for the (ADSL) modem which included network
configuration having connected the modem to the switchbox via a network
cable. We had to set all the computers to automatic configuration of IP
address. Everything burst into life - including my new Ipaq that I'd all but
given up on!
Thanks again - any comments would be of interest.

Double click on the network adapter, and then the Support tab. The gateway IP
should be set to the gateway.
