[2nd Post] SMB File Sharing causes Networking To Break

I have Windows 2003 Server x64 SP1 set up as a file server. When there is
any SMB activity on the machine, whether initiated by the server or a
client, the networking breaks. It has a static IP, but can't ping anything,
local or not. I have latest drivers, BIOS and Windows Updates. I have to
reboot the machine to get the network back. The machine continues to
function normally in every respect except for the fact that it has no
networking.

What should I do?

I have numerous solutions to this particular problem, but all of them
involve to changing the OS. It seems strange that I can get file sharing
working on Linux and Samba but not on Windows.
