2nd DC traffic overhead?

Hi,

I have a client with three 2003 servers - one is the DC. As some users
are now in a remote building I will place 'their' server with them (it
runs a financial app).

There is a 2Mb SDSL at both ends by which the users currently connect
(using a router to router VPN).

I looked for details on bandwidth usage for domain Controllers in a
single site but didn't find any specifics.

Given that there are about 30 uses, with 7 in the remote office and
generally light changes to AD can the server be moved as is and probably
be fine or is it preferred to move to separate Site object etc.

Hey Aus,

If I understand correctly the server you wish to move is not a DC, just a
file server. If that's the case then you should be fine. The only time the
remote users will communicate to the AD server is when they need to
authenticate against something. Your 2MB line should be okay for that. If I
am mis-understanding your setup I apologize.

Hi, thanks.

Yes its just a server at the moment, but if I move it I will make it a
DC with GC copy in case the link fails. Even with this I don't think
there should be too much overhead.
