Madasafish.com has become the first of the major ADSL broadband
providers to offer a 2Mb broadband service to the consumer market -
at only £17.99 per month, with 2 months free.

The 2Mb service, launched today, includes a free modem, free
connection, and a generous 2GB a month of usage.

It is also being offered by Madasafish's sister ISP, Freenetname.
Chief Executive David Laurie said: "This groundbreaking offer is
available to both new and existing customers, and once again
demonstrates our commitment to providing excellent service at
unbeatable value for money. It is another signal to customers that
Madasafish is setting the benchmark for our industry."

Recognition of the quality of service came last week when
Madasafish was nominated as a finalist in the Best Light Broadband
Category of the prestigious 2005

IPSA awards, to be judged on February 24. That followed the
controversial banning by the watchdog BACC of two Madasafish TV ads
featuring Harry Enfield (http://www.madasafish.com/tv-campaign.asp).

The Madasafish and Freenetname broadband services are offered with
e-mail virus protection, spam blocking, full webmail access and a free
UK domain name. Both ISPs are part of the Brightview Group, which was
established in April 2001 and has grown quickly into one of the UK's
largest consumer internet providers.

are there any catches you can see on this offer ?
seems generous with the free connection and modem , i am tempted but do
i need a 2M connection as a low user ?
capped at what ?

There are times when i`d be offline within 2 days with only a 2Gb limit.

I wouldn't call 2GB a month usage generous. I would call that a huge catch.

However "heavy" users should look for and pay for a service that meets
their needs

The ranting and ravings of PlusNet "HEAVY" users expecting to pay a
"LIGHT" price is the subject of extensive discussion elsewhere..

In summary the whole issue that has brought about the necessity
for(capping) boils down to GREED and the unrealistic expectation by a
minority of users trying to get something for nothing at others expense
i.e.. (degradation of their service).

I wonder also how many of those same users would complain if their speeds
began dropping due to contention caused as the user base increases. No doubt
they would be able to find someone else to blame apart from themselves.
The broadband situation in this country is far from ideal and it will
evolve. Until it does then we have to put up with it. That means that the
supply of services will be subject to competition. Both of users for the
products on offer to suit their needs and of the ISPs who don't want to be
stuck with all the 'subsidy' demanding subscribers.

according to their website the examples they give for 2MB looks pretty
good to me
thus they offer

general web browsing 50 hours a week
send/receive photos by email 50 a week
d/l MP3s 30 a week
emails 400 a week
video 30 minutes a week
online gaming 2 hours per week

total 2 GB a month

that seems a good deal , what are these heavy users doing for example ,
i would like to know what more they would expect ../.

stations and you are fucked within a day.

Why do these fucked up key hole surgeons advertise
these stupid services trying to limit your usage
when decent providers do so with unlimited usage?

Not everyone wants to do that. It'll be fine for a lot of people.

You'll learn. Most providers will go this way as the BT charging model
bites. The only exceptions will be people like AOL who can balance off a
few heavy users with a load of light consumer users.

sharing. if thats what you are doing 2gig soon disapears. along with
