I have windows millenium on my pc and windows 2000 on my laptop. Is there any
way to connect the two with a network cable. I tried the home networking
wizard in ME, but it wouldn't run on 2000. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Both computers must have a NIC and you use a crossover cable to connect
them.

The default network settings should be compatible between ME and 2000,
even without running any Wizard.

Here's a checklist:

1. Install the TCP/IP protocol if it isn't already there. Un-install
IPX/SPX and NetBEUI if they're there.

2. Configure TCP/IP to obtain an IP address automatically.

3. On ME, install "Client for Microsoft Networks" and "File and
Printer Sharing".

4. It isn't strictly necessary, but specifying the same workgroup name
on both computers makes networking a little easier.

5. Connect the computers directly using a crossover cable, or connect
them through a hub/switch/router using two regular cables.
