Whilst certainly not the cheapest deal going for a Home500 connection,
they are certainly not the most expensive.

I dont have figures to hand but companies of a similar price (lets say
BTO, who charge a few pennies more than Router-Aid) provide you with
no hardware, dynamic IP etc etc etc - but I'm sure I'm teaching my
granny to suck eggs with detailing the add-ons with ISPs here.

Router-Aid, quote they also give you a free modem (home users), free
filter (of unknown make - so unaware of quality) a static IP etc etc
etc.

Its not a *bad* deal - just not the cheapest. Whilst I've learned in
the past, is not always best.

But BTO do not advertise here. The more competitive offerings from the likes
of PlusNet, Virgin, Pipex cannot be regarded as from "fly-by-nights".

What is the USP (unique selling point) that makes it worth even considering
this newcomer?

Our USP, for this offer is a FREE ROUTER (please excuse the sales caps).
I don't think you'll find any ISP out there doing this, modems maybe.

Also we aren't a newcomer! Datanet have been an ISP for over 7 years, mostly
focused on the small to medium business market, and most of our customers
have been with us for years.

Thanks

The implication therefore is that Router-Aid are "fly-by-nights" due
to their advertising strategy?

Granted, the OP is in contradiction of the charter for 'utb' - but I
fail to see how a contravention of a charter would imply an expensive
pricing structure.

A valid question (and one probably best directed at Router-Aid
themselves), but not valid in terms of discussing if posting in
violation of a usenet charter equals expensive products.

I'm not suggesting that any of the companies mentioned is "fly-by-night".
You suggested that you get what you pay for, to some degree. I merely
countered to say that you can get a high value package at low cost from well
established suppliers with an extensive customer base, although perhaps I
didn't articulate this clearly enough..

I apologise if my meaning was misconstrued.

Personally I don't object to advertising if it brings to my attention some
product of clear benefit or advantage. I am unaware that the original post
brought anything worthy to the table and was thus just advertising noise and
pointless/unwelcome. I don't recall this thread complaining of charter abuse
until you brought it up, merely the lack of percfeived value in the
offering.
