I asked about this once before and I have attempted various fixes but have
not made any progress. I am getting 2012 SRV Warnings up to 40 times a day.
In the progress of diagnosing this I started with the bulit in Broadcom
NetXtreme II on the Dell PowerEdge 2950 MB, then tried a 3Com 3C996B that is
based on the Broadcom NetXtreme and lastly tried an Intel Pro/1000 PT server
adapter. I removed the Broadcom network service that was bound to all
network adapters that was installed with the NetXtreme drivers. I have
tried different network cables. I have tried different ports on our 3Com
8800 switch. The problem doesn't occur when doing backups and doing high
traffic. It only happens with high concurrent connections. The server is
running Windows Storage Server 2003 R2 which I have only added Backup Exec
agent from the Dell factory image.

Everthing I can find on this message indicates bad hardware or
interconnects. I can't think of what else to try and replace. Users are
having occassional problems where they lose connection to the server, it is
most notable during login with roaming profiles in the morning since the
server is under higher load. Any suggestions?

I assume you allready fixed the speed / duplex settings on the server
and the networkcomponent?

None of the cards have a force option of 1 Gbps, the closest is the Intel
with Auto-Negotiate 1000 Mbps. The rest could not be forced to anything
above 100 Mbps.

I found some issues when clients connect through a firewall. Is there a
firewall in place?

Furthermore if you are convinced it has to do with the number of
concurrent sessions on the server, take a look at
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/317249

Good luck,

Actually, i mean fix the speed / duplex on the NIC and switchport. For
example 100/Full on the NIC and 100/Full on the switch. Autonegotiation
within Windows and autosensing on networkswitches might give some
strange outcomes....

This can be configured in Windows through - Connections - LAN
properties - "Connect using" [Configure] - Advanced and set some
parameters there. In my case (Realtek) it is in <Link Speed/Duplex
Mode>
