Our new 2k3 server can't get onto our network. There is no domain and the
computer services dept says "plug it in and it will be fine" but it isn't
able to see other pc's or servers. On our xp machines I used the network
connection wizard and those machines are all fine. Is there some type of
configuration that needs to take place here or something else that we need to
do?

Thanks

Not sure what is meant by "can't get onto our network." But, some things to
check:

1. On the server, open a command prompt and type ipconfig ENTER. Does the
server have an IP address/mask which is compatible with the address scheme
for the other machines on the network?

2. Right click My Computer and select Properties - Computer Name tab. Is
the server a member of the same workgroup as the other network machines?

3. Are you logging onto the server with a user name and password which
matches user accounts existing on other network machines?

4. In Local Area Connection - TCP/IP Properties, Advanced - WINS tab - is
NetBIOS over TCP/IP enabled?

make sure you have correct TCP/IP settings. or posting the result of ipconfig /all may help. For more and other information, go to http://howtonetworking.com.

Don't send e-mail or reply to me except you need consulting services. Posting on MS newsgroup will benefit all readers and you may get more help.
