Server 2003 R2 (free 180 day MS trial ) - set up first to test ISA Server,
not a DC. 2 NICS. Now trying to experiment with it as a secondary DNS
server. Both NIC's on local subnet. Tried to join a local domain, machine
wouldn't find it. I can ping out, and it resolves DNS names,(it's it's own
DNS server) browses the web (still have to approve the addition of a new
web site for IE to show it - so there's that level of a new server security
still intact - and I'm unfamiliar with '03 and don't know how to turn it
off- which may be the problem ?)
Machine can't browse the LAN, and isn't seen by most machines on the LAN.
Made a share on it , and the one machine that can see it (another '03
server) is refused access to the machine, and cant see the share. Browser
service is running.

My guess is if you are running ISA on it, it probably has a firewall up and
running.

That's a pretty good guess. ;-) The browse list relies NetBIOS and
the firewall blocks this type of acces...
