Hello everybody,
we had some networking problems in our real-time chain. Most of them are
solved but some are still open.
a) in a tcpdump we see occasional checksum errors, but we don't see them
in the switch. Wireshark thinks that it comes from checksum offload in the
NetExtrem II network card. The thing that irritates me is, why does it
happen only occasionally ? I thought that offload is on or off. I tried to
read the source, but I'm not good enough. Is there anybody that can tell
me how offloading works in bnx2 driver ?
b) our company produces a real-time feed and delivers it to clients
around the world. In the trace we see lots of push/acks. The developer
says that the application doesn't send any push/acks. Is it possible
that the TCP/IP stack generates them ? I found a hint in rfc 1122 but
I'm not sure. Anybody who can confirm that ?
Thank you for your time. Any input is appreciated.
Sincerely
Bernhard
