2 NICs, 2 IP ranges & Subnets... on a server?

I have 2 internet feeds, and 2 webservers (one from each internet
connection). But there's no reason to have 2 servers and one is
dying...

so i copied the files from the dying server and added another NIC to
the living server.

this server now needs to have 1 Nic use 172.17.147.147/24 gateway
172.17.147.1, and the other NIC use 172.17.176.5/24 gateway
172.17.176.1...

But when i try to add the second NIC's gateway, it complains about
having more than one gateway.

So - my question is... how do I get a machine with 2 NIC's, on two
different networks be a web server on both?

please ask if i'm not being clear...

thanks all!

Hi RJ
If you do not use dynamic routing protocols like ospf or rip it doesn't make
much sense to have 2 "default" gateways - because - which interface does it
have to use if it is the default gw? You might be able to add a second gw
with a higher cost if the first interface should fail

I was thinking this... but I'm trying not to, because I need the
machine to feed from two different IP ranges & subnets. Is it
possible to use ospf or rip to solve my dilema? I'm not familiar with
either of these, but I would think I'm not the first to want to deploy
a server into different IP ranges.

Thanks for the input,

rjv

What you are doing is the wrong approach from the beginning. Put both Sites on
the same machine. *One* IP#,...*one* ISP.

Change the Public Registration of the Site (if there is one) to an IP# on the
machine. Both sites can run on the same IP# as long as Host Headers are used.
You can optionally use a different IP# on the box as long as all IP#s it uses
are on the same subnet.
