My uncle is having trouble with his WIN98 (2nd edition)
OS. Instead of seeing a normal-looking desktop, the
screen is black with a triangle in the center. The PC
will boot up in safe mode, but that's about it. Device
drivers look okay, though there was something
called "Existing NDIS2 Driver" that looked out of place.
I found (from Microsoft.com) and ran the patch
("243199US8.exe"), but that didn't work.
I am not sure where/when he received these errors, but he
simply cannot boot up normally, nor can he access
the 'Net, so I'm not sure what he should do. I was
helping him over the phone tonight, and plan on looking at
it in person tomorrow morning. I'm guessing the best fix
would be to upgrade to ME or XP, but I'd love to hear some
feedback/suggestions.
Regards,
Andy
