Hi,
we 'd like to know if we have 2 windows domains ( 2003 server ) connected
(different domain name) and same hostname for individual pc on the domains
ie : pc1.domain1 and pc1.domain2

does this can bring failure for some network operations (communication /
logon etc) between the two pc?
or is it ok?

Thanks in advance.
Mr Remy SW Engineer.

How are they connected? If they are in the same broadcast domain you
will get duplicate name problems (because the machines have the same Netbios
name). If they are isolated by a router and you don't run WINS you should be
OK. Anything to do with Netbios names will cause problems.

If they are on the same LAN I susupect that you will get "duplicate
name" error messages.

Whether Windows 2000/2003 needs Netbios and/or WINS is the 64 dollar
question. The answer is yes/no/maybe. The only way to know for sure is to
disable Netbios over TCP/IP and see if anything stops working.
