2 DHCP servers to 1

In my office, I inherited a setup where we have 2 dhcp server, one servicing
half of our clients, and the other dhcp server for the remaining half. All
computers are on the same subnet. I guess it was set up this way in case 1
server failed, not everyone would be taken out. Anyhow, I want to change it
so that we have only 1 dhcp server, with a backup dhcp server deactivated
until needed. Will there be any issues when I take the back up dhcp server
files from each server and try to import them into my 1 new dhcp server?

Thanks

Hello Nes,

Create the second scope on the first server or make a complete new one and
delete the scope on the other server. How long is your lease time? Without
rebooting the clients will ask the DHCP server for releasing the ip after
the half lease time. So if you have 8 days for example, after 4 days the
client will look for renewal of the ip. If you only have some hours, just
do it at close of business. You can also reduce the lease time and wait for
the maximun release time for the clients before changing the scope.

Best regards

You inherited the setup from someone who knew what they were doing.
You are already doing it the right way,...and are now wanting to do it the
wrong way. Keep the two as they are.
