2 DC's think they are both master browsers

When i run Browstat status on each of the domain controllers they
return with themselves as Master Brothers. Is that normal or should
there be only one master browser for the domain?

We're having issues with workstations not showing up in my network
places.

Also the DC holding the PDCE role is set up with RRAS. I've heard
that may be a problem with Browsing as well.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Peter

Assuming the DC's are on different subnets, then it is normal, and
expected, that they are both 'master browsers', in this case, Segment
Master Browsers. The PDC-E will also be the Domain Master Browser. SMBs
send their local list to the DMB (every 12 minutes by default) and get a
converged browse list in return. Every network segment needs a browser,
so run browstat on one of the workstations that is having the problem and
see what its view of the browsing world is.

Don't know the answer re:RRAS.

The problem with having RRAS on the PDCE is this. As soon as a remote
client (RAS or VPN) connects, the Domain Master Browser becomes multihomed
(when the RRAS internal interface acquires an IP to act as the server end on
the point-to-point connection). So you get all the old multihomed PDC
problems.
