So if I do NOT have WINS (But have win2x server DNS) and the Node types are
Hybrid, does the client attempt name resolution via DNS first, then
broadcasts? (I am assuming Win2k+ try DNS first and not NetBios)

What is the best way to reduce broadcasts or what are the best DHCP scope
options for that, in a non-WINS environment?(The network is all Win2k Pro or
XP.)

Greatly Appreciated!

Mike

NO:

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;160177

To reduce broadcasts without WINS, you can turn off the computer browser on
all but Master and backup browsers, use static or reserved IPs and lmhosts
files with the #PRE tag for all clients, segment the network to reduce the
number of machines on each subnet.
