well, I don't know if its the same problem, but yes, I had problems with
the new kernel and the onboard Intel NIC. Specifically, when trying to use
the e100 alternative driver, networking did not work even though
initialisation worked (i.e. address was assigned properly to eth0, etc.)
In the course of my research I found that the NIC had been set to 100 Mbps
FDX while the switch my system was connected to was set to 10 Mbps HDX. If
I changed this using mii-diag, networking would work. Strangely enough, if
I then specified 10 Mbps HDX via options on the modprobe commandline (or
options line in modprobe.conf), networking would not work. Only by setting
the speed with mii-diag would get it going.
Therefore I reverted to the 'old' eepro driver in kernel 2.6.9-test6 and
the problems were gone. Thus, I am kind of amazed that you seem to have
problems when using the eepro100 driver.
