2.4 GHz interference or GigaSet ?

I have a Siemens GigaSet 2420 and would like to find out if my
interferences come from other 2.4 GHz sources in the neighborhood or
from a defective phone.

I listened to the pattern of the interferences by placing the handset
next to a stereo playing a spoken CD, and listening to the voice at
the base station:
1) Interference varies, there is more and less every few minutes
2) There is a load crack every few seconds
3) Volume goes gradually down for like 2 seconds, then comes back
4) Buzzing

Does anybody know if this is typical interference on this frequency,
or is it possible to measure if there are other sources? Or should I
rewturn the phone?

Thanks, Johannes

Siemens uses Frequency Hoping Spread Sprectrum. I tried one Siemens looking
like the one you're trying yourself, not very good against interference
especially microwave ovens. Not very good audio. Also found out the range is
poor with audio breaking up with loud cracking sounds (bad for ears when
at range limit or at a weak spot.
I tried other 2.4Ghz using DSSS but finally make my mind with a Panasonic
900Mhz digital only, no spread spectrum.

Others may have different experiences though.

I use a Gigaset alongside a 802.11b network with no probs. Microwave does
cause audible interference on the Gigaset though.
