Just upgraded to 1Mb connection my download speeds are now twice has
fast has with the 512 but the upload speed has remained the same is
this correct or is there something wrong somewhere !!has I would have
expected the upload to have doubled also .

The upload speeds are the same on both servcies.

You are right, the upload speed is the same as 512 kbs, however in the
future there is something called SDSL which has equal upstream and
downstream speeds. The one downside is that with SDSL you won't be able to
use a phone/fax via a splitter down the same line -- you will need a
dedicated line for your PC and a separate one for your phone/fax.
Of course it will probably take BT many years to introduce this system too.

SDSL has been available for some time now. You won't like the prices
though....
