I just set up a MN700g base station on a new SonyDesktop
(OS.Wxp home edition). During set up, the default for the
128WEP keys is
a 26space set of characters. However when i try to plug
these WEP#'s into the required field on my (hope-to-be-
networked-with) Toshiba Laptop (OS.Wxp professional) the
WEP field will only allow 24 characters. What's that all
about? Any other alternatives or go-arounds other than
using a lessor encryption strength? Is this a Toshiba
or Wxp design and IF Windows..ummm..hello?? Shouldn't a
MSFT hardware set up know what the Wxp set-up will or
will not do? Thoughts?

It really only appears like that, Merk. 8-) Put the whole string in, and
you'll note everything is depicted as ***** which doesn't give an actual
count. This is so someone observing over your shoulder doesn't know the
number of characters you're using.

Make sure you update your new laptop from Windows Update, because there are
enhancement items concerning networking.

Thanks for the help chris, as you are correct. PLUS the
suggestion to download (neworking)Win/updates was
helped too....alas, now if only could get resolve my
print sharing problem I'd be a very happy camper. Will
post for help after one more attempt. Thanks again!
