This seems to be a regular occurrence at weekends now and I've just
about had enough

If I transfer my domain to 1and1, I'm assuming if I get my account set
up in advance with a catch all forwarding address for all, then I won't
lose any emails when I move across. I can't really afford to be losing
any emails, but the delays I am experiencing is not acceptable now. If
I time thins right I should be able to pick a moment when I don't expect
too much email

How long would I expect the transfer to take?

I transferred from 123-reg to www.daily.co.uk for the same reason about a
month ago.

I suggest that you open your new account with your new host and then
organise your new email set-up with them.
Then transfer your domain and last of all, change your name server
addresses.

It seemed to work OK for me (did it that way on 'dailys' advice).

Good luck
Joskin

I have a couple of domains with 1and1,I found them to be slow in propagating
info on their system - so you may lose mail.

123reg have had a problem with one of their nameservers during the
past few hours. It should have been fixed, but may result in website
propogation being delayed for up to 24 hours.

Your problem has nothing to do with broadband per se - why are whinging
in this group? What's wrong with alt.internet.providers.uk?

This is the bit that confuses me most, but at the risk of annoying the
other poster, I have asked 1and1 what they mean by this (assuming it's
the same as pointing the DNS server to 1&1)

Cheers

oh right... so that makes it OK to post yet another off topic thread,
and discuss it here?

Strictly speaking wasn't aipu initially set up for "Discussion of UK
ISP's" when dialup was the norm? Since 123reg is not an ISP, surely
it's off topic over there too
