1stNet Internet Services now has a live Wirless Broadband service in TORBAY
and are taking registrations in North Devon.

The service is currently avaliable in central Paignton and Zoo areas, plus
the network is expanding towards the Willows & Shiphay areas and everthing
in between. There is also plans to cover all those areas that won't get
traditional broadband.

The service is 11Mbps, no restrictions! that's a lot faster than any cable
or satillite service .....

We need people to register buy opening an account with 1stNet, NO credit
card is need to open this account, but it will give us an idea of where
people are and the next areas that we need to be looking at.

Prices starting from £14.99 per month Inc VAT

The service is planned to cover Devon and Cornwall with the next 12 months.

Details

www.1stnet.co.uk/wireless for South Devon, Exeter & Cornwall

www.1stnet-north.net for North Devon, Taunton & Somerset

if its wifi then this will be 11mbps maximum will it not - it would seem
that you are on a lan and competing for bandwith with everyone on the lan. I
rad the 11mbps at the technology (wifi 802.11b) as opposed to speed.

OP correct if wrong

Sam, I didn't mean the speed itself, I meant the speed for £14.99 (thats the
same price as dial-up, which I find a little hard to believe).

ive took the chance and preregged with them. im in bridgwater area and
although i have 512k adsl, im too far to get any faster (have tried) as
cable has just passed striaght through and out the otherside of town, i
doubt they will be offering much any time soon. a wi-fi connection seems
the most likely way ill braek out of my 0.5 mb connection.

ive read that this is fairly cheap to set up and operate subject to enough
users and they report a contention of 4:1 so should still get 2mbps+ with no
download caps. security is a concern for me still though.....dont want some
spotty hack getting into my paudfor bandwidth for nought!!

ill report back if i hear anything................. need some feedback from
those in the paignton area dont we!!
