Depens on where you have the access point.
802.11a has a faster practical link speed 802.11g has a slightly slower link
in practice but is better at penatrating walls etc and will go a longer
distance.
At the moment there are more devices that can cause problems with 802.11g
than 802.11a cordless phones cause some people trouble.
There are less extra antenna and other equipment for 802.11a - 802.11g
equipment can use 802.11b extras which opertates on the same frequency.
I would check out the costs of both as there is new equipment that works
with 802.11a/b/g giving yo the best of both worlds.
