100mbit ADSL standard called VDSL2 approved

This is a chance for LLU operators to press
ahead of BT$ to dominate the DSL ahead of
anything that BT$ can offer.

Not unless it's approved on UK networks, and you live in a lean-to against
the exchange.

Surely ADSL2+ will be the next step for the unbundlers - apparently that can
do 24mbits up to 1.5km (or something like that, I forget the exact figures).
That must be a fair chunk of the the urban population.

It's similar to the distance which BT will support SDSL at 2 Mbps. 1.5 km of
cable will typically be in the order of 1km as the crow flies, i.e. an area of
just over 3 sq km. Take Coventry as a typical urban environment. It has 12
exchanges. The 1km circles around them cover about 38 sq m. Coventry has an
area of 98.64 sq km. So using this very simplistic model, in this instance one
would expect about 38% coverage.
