When you're looking at network equipment, and considering the various
bandwidth measures, is it:

1) More common for vendors to use units based on 1000's?
2) More common for vendors to use units based on 1024's?
3) Something you just always have to ask about?

Thanks!

Since bandwidth is normally specified in bits per second (or
standard SI multiples of it) the 1024 issue relating to BYTES doesn't
apply.

If you're talking about transfer speed in terms of kilobytes or megabytes
per second from A to B, you'll need to check with the vendor. Most
vendors use the meaning that gives them the fastest looking figures.
